A little of India coming to Vancouver Island, 25th November, 2017.
The ancient art practice of Indian Minitaure Painting is as poetic as it is descriptive, combining symbolism and narrative within original composition, bright colours and minute detail.
Coming to Vancouver Island straight from Jaipur India, this experience will be freshly loaded with inspiration. In this workshop we’ll be introducing and discussing the qualities of Indian Miniature Painting and the traditional techniques and materials that are still used today. You will gain understanding of the process involved in creating a painting, experience meditation as the foundation of the art-form, and discover the essential element of devotion. You will try your hand at painting classical Indian line work with the single-hair brush, find access to the neutral mind through meditation techniques, and will be able to sample authentic handmade paints and brushes as gifted by the royal artists of Jaipur City Palace.
I'll be leading you through this session, revealing secrets of miniature painting as learned directly from my teachers: India’s award winning master craftsmen, the renowned Ramdev brothers of Jaipur, Rajasthan. This is open to all levels, absolutely no experience is required. This will likely be a new experience for everyone!
